Sergey went to Greece to document the journey of Europe-bound migrants from the Middle East and parts of Africa. He spent five months traveling westward with the refugees, from the point of their arrival on Greek shores through countries such as Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, and Slovenia.

His compositions speak to traditions of history painting and provide a reflective, monumental point of view that differs from other photojournalistic representations of the migration crisis.
