Anna Kravets, works at the weather station:
Ñ I came here from Rostov-on-Don in the south. I graduated from a technical college and became a certified meteorological officer. Then I decided to move to the north to get some work experience. That’s how I ended up in Shoyna. I was shocked: no trees, just the sand everywhere. It’s hard to walk on it, your feet and legs get tired too quickly. I had to say goodbye to my high heels. Now I’m not used to walking on asphalt, it’s just too hard. You get used to everything: the harsh climate, the village life. I took up fishing with my husband. I don’t hunt, though: I feel bad for the animals. I do miss the fresh vegetables, so much that I’m now growing my own on the windowsill at work.
